I'd Like You to Meet Me!

Hello, my name is Kawena Hetrick and I am a senior at Radford High School, which I have attended all four years of my high school career. I am a part of NHS and Student council at school. I enjoy helping tutoring others and plan to become a secondary teacher in the future. The purpose of my project is to bring about the idea that teaching students that they have a preferred learning style will ultimately hurt their learning in the future. In many instances, students have struggled in their classes because they were taught that they have a specific way of learning best, and it causes them to struggle in classes that are different from their learning style. Students have a difficulty in adapting to a variety of classes with different teaching styles and tend to struggle in many classes because of it. I feel that it is important that we develop a better system instead of teaching students that they have a specific way of learning best, and teach them several ways of learning in different learning environments. My research method is a questionnaire survey that I will use to collect personal thoughts from students at RHS over the topic of learning styles and what they think about them.
