Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our school special education team. This role focuses on supporting all students. You will work under the direct supervision of licensed special education teachers to provide academic, emotional, and behavioral support. Your primary goal is to help students succeed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Behavioral Support
Academic Assistance: Guide students through modified assignments. Reinforce lessons taught by the classroom teacher. Assist students individually or in small groups.
Data Collection: Monitor student behavior patterns daily. Track academic progress. Document incidents accurately to help teams evaluate student goals.
Supervision: Maintain a safe environment. Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and arrivals or departures.
Collaboration: Work closely with special education teachers, social workers, and administrators. Participate in team meetings and professional development training.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must meet Minnesota ParaELEMN/ParaEducator requirements by possessing an Associate’s Degree, 60+ college credits, or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.
Experience: Prior experience working with children or adolescents with behavioral challenges preferred. Experience in a school setting is a plus.
Skills: Strong patience, emotional regulation, and communication skills. Ability to remain calm and neutral in high-stress or crisis situations.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly to ensure student safety. Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds if necessary.

Primary Responsibility:
The primary responsibility of this role is to facilitate communication and provide access in the classroom setting. This includes conveying all educational content and intent, incidental information, and supporting social interactions. The interpreter should take into account the student's IEP goals, language and culture needs of all persons, Deaf and hearing, as well as the environment in order to provide the most effective interpretations.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide students who are deaf and hard of hearing with sign language interpreting services in early childhood, elementary, and/or secondary settings within District 239; facilitates communication between hearing and deaf or hard of hearing consumers.
Adapt physical conditions to optimize students' visual access to interpreted message(s) in the classroom setting.
Adhere to the code of conduct for educational interpreters.
Ensure interpreting techniques are aligned with students' language level and follow student's individualized education plans as appropriate.
Establishes and maintains effective communication with students, teachers and other staff; maintains confidentiality within the team; supports communication between team members.
Help to maintain safety of all students and the learning environment.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications required:
Demonstrated skill and certification in expressive and receptive sign language interpreting.
RID-NIC certification; OR 4.0+ on the EIPA and pass on the written exam; OR provisional certificate required.
Experience in an educational setting preferred.

Position Summary
The Special Event Custodian plays a vital role in keeping school facilities clean, safe, and ready for learning after community disruptions. This position is responsible for the rapid sanitation and cleanup of high-traffic areas immediately following home athletic and special events in the K-12 building.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Gymnasium & Bleacher Cleanup: Sweep, spot-mop, and remove all debris from gym floors. Clear trash, discarded items, and spills from spectator bleachers, folding them safely if required by facilities guidelines.
Restroom Sanitation: Thoroughly clean and disinfect all event-accessible restrooms. Clean toilets, urinals, sinks, and mirrors. Restock essential paper products, soap dispensers, and liners.
Hallway & Commons Maintenance: Sweep and mop high-traffic hallways, entryways, and concession areas surrounding the athletic facilities.
Waste Management: Empty all trash and recycling receptacles within the event zones. Replace liners and transport waste to the building’s main dumpsters.
Safety & Security: Identify and immediately clean up hazardous spills or bodily fluids according to district biohazard protocols. Ensure event area exit doors are clear and report any facility damage or vandalism to the supervisor.
