The school’s first teachers were Alice Goodspeed, C. Gertrude Eddy, Almina Knowlton and Ruth Wilkinson, and Miss Gibson. Each teacher taught two grades, from first to eighth grade. During the lunch hour, students ran home, ate, tended the families’ chickens and did chores, then ran back to play before school resumed. In 1926, Squantum’s first 8th grade class of 14 students was promoted to high school.
