Neemo (NASA Extreme Environment Missision Operation) is a NASA analog mission that sends groups of astronauts, engineers and scientists to live in Aquarius, the world's only undersea research station.
Neemo is the practice of sending scientists/nasa astronauts underwater to examine the habitat that is similar to space, with the pressure building up in the small living space inside the ¨ship¨.
Neemo is an analog for training astronauts for space travel. An analog (when NASA talks about it) is an experience on earth that imitates an experience on another planet. An analog situation on Earth produces effects on the body similar to those experienced in space, physical, mental and emotional. These studies help prepare astronauts for long duration missions. NASA is associated with at least 14 analog missions throughout the world.
