Ramadan Suitcase
For 13 successful years, Qatar Academy teachers, students and parents have revealed their charitable souls and provided for those who are less privileged than them through collecting and distributing the Ramadan Suitcase. The items will be distributed by the students to the poor living in Qatar, with the assistance of Qatar Charity on April 25th, 2018.
Each suitcase should include: 2kgs of sugar, 2kgs of flour, 2kgs of rice, 2kgs of powdered milk, 1kg of dates and 2kgs of oil, one stuffed animal, one doll and one toy car.

As such, Grades 6 to 8; the class with the biggest number of suitcases will win Baskin Robins Ice-cream.
I appreciate your assistance in the collection of suitcases, and look forward to your collaboration.
Please note that students from all grades are encouraged to partake in this charitable cause, by providing at least 1 carton
Also note that the collection of the suitcases is taking place in the Diamond Area in the Senior School.
Thanking you for your ongoing support.

QA News Activity
Have you been interested in delivering something new, unique and engaging to the school community? Or possibly try out a new activity in the journalism or media field? Do you want to work with different people and learn new skills that you can benefit from? Then this will be your time to shine! There has been interest amongst the school community to establish a Qatar Academy News broadcast, which will aim to deliver weekly news and other fun segments to increase school spirit and have a more connected community. For such activity to occur, it will require the efforts of the student body (with teachers helping along the way) to come together and form a successful broadcast. This activity has a lot to cover, from presenters to journalists, video editors, storyboarders/scriptwriters and so much more, so there will definitely be a place for everyone to take part in.
If you are interested in any way, or would like to contribute some new ideas, sign up in this form and we’ll be in contact with you as soon as possible. Don’t worry about experience or knowing exactly what you want to do, after all this is a new activity aimed to bring something fresh to the QA community!

Cell Phones
As we continue to promote a school environment focused on learning and academic excellence, QAD Senior School is considering a ban on cellphones during the school day. The ban would possibly prevent students from using cellphones from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. We feel that it would benefit the social-emotional and academic needs of our students if they did not have access to a cellphone during the school day. Additionally, we have found that research supports our efforts. With that said, we are interested in parent feedback so that we can develop an informed policy. Therefore, a link to a survey has been included in this week's Akhbar. Parents- please do take a few minutes to complete the survey. Thank you.

What is Qatar to you?
Dear Students,
What is Qatar to you?
What symbol, image or word represents Qatar to you?
Qatar Academy Doha is producing a collaborative art project about Qatar based on the above question.
The plan is to print your individual responses and images, in an approx. A5 format and exhibit them together, in one place, as a mural, at our school. We are asking for diverse perspectives, in ONE image, in order to express the identity, culture, heritage and values of Qatar.
You can send it through the following link or via email to qad.pta@gmail.com or via whats app +974 50508849.
