Final Report Cards, End of Year Sign Out Forms & International Trips next year.

Final Report Cards will be distributed in the Diamond area on Thursday, May 30th between 9:30 Am and 1:30 Pm. Students will be required to submit the completed sign out form (distributed by Mrs. McGinley) before they can collect their final report card.

On May 30th, there will be an International Trip Fair in the diamond area. Students will be able to learn more about international trip opportunities taking place next year and indicate their interest in participating. Information about International Trip opportunities is also posted below .


International Trips: Even as we are working to finish this school year, we hope you will take time to review the international trips set for the next academic year. Please read through the list of trips below and the grade level of students who can partake in the trips. Because many of the trips will take place during the week of November 24-28, we need to start the process of signing up for trips before this year ends. Please stay tuned for more information regarding the process to sign up for trips and to make down payments on the trips.


International Trip: Iceland-Geography, Science & Culture

Dates: 24-29 November Grade Level: 10-12

Brief details: Students take a tour of Reykjavik, visit museums, view the Northern Lights, enjoy thermal pools, visit Hellisheidi power plant & Thingvellir National park, and visit Eyjafjallajokull volcano and museum.

International Trip: Nepal Service and Action trip (QA Action)

Dates: 24-30 November Grade Level: 9-12

Brief Details: Students will work with the Nepali students at Deurali Primary School to improve their English skills and equip them with learning strategies for the future. They will teach English classes, visit local development projects, have dinner with local families and spend time at a farm. This should be viewed as a working trip and not a vacation. Our students will be expected to be QA ambassadors. It is hoped that this trip will help in the development of the core goals of both QA MUN and the Community and Service Program. As stated in the CAS guide it is the goal of IB school to “create internationally minded people who recognize their common humanity and…help to create a better and more peaceful world.”

International Trip: Verbier Switzerland Ski Trip.

Dates: March 13 – 20, 2020 Grade Levels: Gr 7 -12

Provider: Les Elfes

Brief details: This will be the 3rd annual version of what has been a very popular trip. Les Elfes staff provides a ski program that identifies participant’s abilities and then differentiates to help them improve their skill set. Skiing is done in both the morning and afternoon. In the evening, the Les Elfes’ staff leads an interactive activity with lights out taking place at 10pm. Examples of evening activities include ice skating, a walking tour of the town, low org. games, etc… If you are keen to hit the slopes and and enjoy the Swiss culture this may be the trip for you.

RAMADAN SUITCASE competition kicks off today. Please support the initiative by bringing in the items noted in the document below. LET'S GO GRADE 11.

STUDY HALL - DP Corridor OR Library OR Cafeteria

Hello Grade 11 students. You will find a blue book with the label "Grade 11 Study Hall Book" on:

1. the table outside of Mr. Barrett's door

2. on Ms. Sudha's desk in the library

3. on the security table at the side exit leading to the cafeteria.

At the beginning of study hall, please choose the location you would like to go, fill out the blue book designated for that area and stay in that area for the duration of the study hall. Please remember that the purpose of study hall is to further your academic studies. It is my sincere hope that you find this new privilege useful and that you can respect the expectations noted above.

Our admin team has been working with Ms. Noura Al-Ibrahim (Acting Manager of Occupational Health, QF HSS&E Safety, Health & Environment) to help raise awareness of Breast Cancer.

There will be a presentation that is open to all members of our collective community (Girls this is open to you too) in the Visitor’s center in the Senior school on Wednesday 14th November 2:00 – 3:00pm in Arabic prior to our PTC’s starting, and on Thursday from 2:15pm – 3:15pm in English.

Mums, Grandmothers, older sisters (appropriate for DP students), faculty, support teams are all invited to attend. This will be followed up the following week by having the mobile screening unit on campus allowing for screening to occur for any women within our community over 45 years old.

Individuals will be able to sign up at the awareness talk for a screening appointment.

Heartiest congratulations to all of you for your wonderful performance in grade 10 e-assessments. Despite the tight deadlines, most of you came out with flying colours.

Experiential Learning at QAD.

We have a whole range of really exciting trips occurring this year and below have power point giving an overview of the various activities that will be happening. Hello Students and Parents.

Did you know that two of the most important factors to promote success in school are sleep and diet. During advisory and assembly over the next couple of weeks, we will be discussing sleep and diet and what students can do to help themselves achieve the success they desire. Please see this 4 minute video that reinforces the importance of sleep for teens.

School Uniform Shop

This week the shop will be open from 9am - 5 pm. Please go and buy any last items of uniform required. The shop is situated in the Recreation Centre opposite the stairs down to Coffee Bean.

For course change requests, please collect a course change form from Mrs. McGinley or Mrs. Wade in the main office. All course changes moving forward must be done through the main office.
