Goal

The aim of the upcoming workshop in Wrocław is to strengthen the cooperation between the two Universities in terms of joint research projects and international exchange


Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Wrocław Tech/WUST)


Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUST/Wrocław Tech) is a public institution founded in 1945, but its academic legacy dates over 160 years back to the University of Lviv. It is a leading research and teaching center and one of the most dynamically developing technical universities in Poland. WUST conducts wide-scale international cooperation with universities across the world, as shown by the number of signed bilateral international agreements: approx. 600. 


Within this framework, WUST is visited by foreign students participating in short-term international mobility programs and summer schools as well as foreign academic staff taking part in scientific and education exchanges. Currently, the number of full time international students from over 80 countries amounts to 1500.

WUST is one of the largest and best technical universities in the country – with almost 22000 students at 13 faculties and 3 branches and over 800 doctoral students. The number of academic staff amounts to almost 2200. The infrastructure comprises, among others, 119 buildings, almost 800 teaching and 250 research laboratories. WUST is the first in Poland coordinator of an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master, a member of various associations.

The University offers three levels of education in English or in Polish. The current educational offer of studies in English includes 36 Bachelor and Master’s degree programmes as well as doctoral studies.

Technische Universität Dresden (TUD)

Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) is one of the largest technical universities in Germany and is among the leading and most dynamic universities in Germany. As a university with 17 faculties in five Schools, TUD offers a broad variety of 119 degree courses and covers a wide research spectrum in the Research Priority Areas (RPAs) Health Sciences, Biomedicine & Bioengineering, Information Technology & Microelectronics, Smart Materials & Structures, Energy, Mobility & Environment as well as Culture & Societal Change. Since 2012, TUD has been one of eleven “Universities of Excellence” and receives permanent funding within the framework of the Excellence Strategy of the Federal and State Governments as of November 2019.


Around 30,000 students are enrolled at the TUD - three times as many as in 1990. Internationally, the TUD has earned an excellent reputation. Currently, every fifth student comes from abroad. Today, around 8,300 employees from 89 countries work at the Technische Universität Dresden. Its third-party funding has increased from 102.7 million euros (2005) to 357.4 million euros (2022). 


TUD has the most patent applications among German universities (2010-2019) and is among the top 100 universities in THE Impact Rankings "Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure" (2022). To further strengthen our innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, TUD | excite was founded to integrate professional services and research around entrepreneurship and technology transfer and to provide an innovation hub for TUD members as well as investors and industry partners. As a partner of the DRESDEN-concept Science and Innovation Campus, TUD is also a member of a one-of-a-kind network of research and cultural institutions.


The TUD spans a wide range to create knowledge for life in addition to knowledge: from the fundamentals of the natural sciences to robotics and artificial intelligence to the sciences of man and his culture: health, aging, ethics, mobility, construction, nature conservation or new energies. Traditional subject boundaries are overcome in the process. Our vision is to further strengthen the TU Dresden as a globally oriented and regionally anchored top university for the 21st century.
