Language Arts:

Offline:

  • Read with a friend or family member for 15 minutes a day

  • Read independently for 20 minutes

  • Draw a picture of a favorite part of the book you read (ex. character or event)

  • Create a story or poem and share it with someone

  • Create a play and act it out using costumes and props

  • Keep a home journal

  • Write an explanation on how to do something. Give it to a family or friend and see how long it takes them to do it

  • Pick your favorite paragraph of a story and translate it for a friend or family member

  • Retell a story to a friend or family member

  • Create a new dance. Present it to a friend or family member and explain how to do it.

  • Read about a topic you want to learn more about (ex. sharks, trains, dogs). Tell someone three fascinating things about it. Write a book and/or draw pictures about what you learned.

  • The Spanish Experiment: Well-known children's stories translated into Spanish and spoken by a native Spanish speaker. You can turn the closed/ captioning on in English to work as subtitles or in Spanish to serve as a read aloud.

  • YouCubed At Home: YouCubed at home was created by Jo Boaler, Mathematics Professor at Stanford University. On this website you will find modified versions of tasks to be more home-friendly, as well as some new explorations designed for learners at home. Most tasks are accompanied by a video.

With ten live cams to choose from, you can experience the wonder of the ocean no matter where you are.
