Class Time

We've covered the new routines our students will encounter when they return to school—
what to expect when they arrive at school, the daily health screening process, and
how they'll line up before class on the playground. Now we're off to class!

What to Bring, and What Not to Bring…?

Let's start with what your student should bring with them to school:

  1. Their face mask.

  2. Their own water bottle. All water fountains at school are currently disabled. Students can refill their bottles at the touchless bottle-filling station near Mr. Betz's PE office.

  3. Backpacks are allowed, but are not needed. We encourage you to leave your backpack at home, if possible; any backpacks brought to school may not be brought into classrooms, and will have
    to stay outside.

What should students leave at home?

  1. Food of any kind. Please do not send children to school with any snacks; they will not be able to eat at school.

  2. School supplies, toys, and personal items. All supplies will be provided by your child's teacher.

  3. Technology devices. Devices should remain at home. We would like our afternoon cohorts to be screen-free or very limited screen time. One exception is if your child's teacher asks them to bring their Chromebook to school.

Individual Student Kits

  • Every student will receive a Student Materials Kit for their own use.

  • The Kits are only to be used by individual students and should remain at school.

  • All school supplies will be kept inside your child’s classroom.

Playground Access & Outside Play

Zone 1: Swings & Basketball Courts
Zone 2: Grass by the Portables
Zone 3: Handball Courts & Play Structure near solar panels
Zone 4: Field nearest the Pre-School

During afternoon in-person instruction, students will participate in various learning activities. Although there is no designated recess time during the afternoon session, outside time will be used to: practice routines, how to use restrooms, and move safely through the campus hallways/pathways.

The outside activities and games our students learn this Spring will help build safe and healthy habits for the following school year. Students will learn to play a non-touch game that helps build connections and community, as well as a game that they will be able to play during recess next year.

Playground Zones have been created to ensure that classes have adequate space for outdoor learning games. Every class will rotate through each Zone according to a daily rotational schedule. As students learn the Playground Zones and the expectations for outdoor activities, these new routines will carry over into the 2021-22 school year.
