CJSF

California Junior Scholarship Federation

Monte Vista is pleased to announce that students may join California Junior Scholarship Federation or CJSF for excellent academic performance. There is an application process and a 5-hour community service requirement each semester to participate. You may email Ms. Bryce (jbryce@PVSDcamarillo.org) for more information.  Students will be able to find application forms and service hour forms below. I also have copies in B-2. We look forward to recognizing your amazing success!

CJSF Information

Here is some general information.

California Junior Scholastic Federation is a statewide honor society that recognizes outstanding students. Students are appreciated for their high grades in academic subjects and outstanding citizenship. The 6th Grade Honor Society is a way to allow 6th graders with outstanding academic achievement and citizenship to participate in the organization.

Any student with high grades in academic subjects should apply. Eligibility requirements are explained on the application. Primarily “A” and “B” grades count toward CJSF points. Honors classes receive extra points. Final grades of “D” or “F” and/or marks of "N" or “U” in citizenship in any class disqualify the student from that semester (progress report grades do not count).

Students must apply each semester to remain current.

Proof of Grades can be copies of report cards, grade printouts from Q, or copies or originals of transcripts. Please note that the main office will not print out grades/transcripts for students; this must be done at home.

Students must perform a minimum of 5 hours of school based or community service.  This must be volunteer work; a grade or money cannot be received for this service.

To be an Honor Member a student must be a member for a minimum of 3 out of the 4 semesters of 7th and 8th grade.

In addition to the certificates, CJSF members have the pride and recognition for being a part of this prestigious organization. They are also familiar with the organization so that they can join CSF in high school.

Membership in CJSF does not automatically qualify a student for membership in CSF in high school. After each semester at the high school, students must apply and qualify based on the CSF requirements. At the high school level there are also special awards at graduation for CSF members.

At this time, Monte Vista does not sell CJSF merchandise. You can purchase CJSF items directly from the organization.

Please note that some items, such as awards, are not available for purchase.

Currently CJSF does not recognize 6th graders as being eligible for CJSF membership. To be inclusive of all students at Monte Vista, the Honor Society was created to allow 6th graders to prepare for CJSF. If CJSF is the California Junior Scholastic Federation, think of 6th Grade Honor Society as the junior CJSF.
