This Strategic Foresight project supports Purdue Global’s growth and innovation plans. This project will help Purdue Global understand the needs of the learners, the portfolio of offerings, and the experience we should offer to the students of 2035.
The following scenarios are plausible futures the team has imagined through the practice of foresight. The practice of foresight does not predict the future but offers opportunities to imagine potential futures using signals of change, trends, and drivers. These scenarios can help you initiate discussions with your teams about how these ideas might impact your work, and what changes you might want to implement to help create or avoid this future.
Rosa is a single parent who works at Walmart in Brownsville, TX. She is in management training and is taking a Certificate on the Internet of Things.
Rosa takes classes in the PG-Walmart campus on the Metaverse and uses ultrasonic waves to physically feel what she sees through her VR goggles. Her courses have students from all over the world who speak their own language while the AI instantly translate their speech into English.
Brent is a 65-year-old Gig Economy Manager who lives in Peoria, IL, and works for Caterpillar. Brent helps teams of full-time employees and gig contractors* come together to build new all-electric machines to support companies with their zero-emissions goals.
While Brent was not excited about going back to school, he has been taking Content Capsules from PG to learn new management techniques, including how to effectively lead the teams developing Caterpillar’s new all-electric machinery.

George is a Christian, active Military student who is finishing his Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management. He is excited about what he can learn from cutting-edge programming languages to manage the autonomous transportation systems that connect farmers throughout the world, artificial intelligence warehouse systems management, and ledger-based logistics management systems in this program. George will be using his G.I. Bill educational benefits to attend school.
Stacy is excited to join PG due to its commitment to DEI. Purdue Globals’ published DEI policies meet the A+ ranking on the ACLU, Human Rights Campaign, GLAAD, Equality Federation, among others. Stacy is in a Professional Studies degree and her classes are in PG’s Metacampus. Because Stacy is currently transitioning, they are looking forward to altering their avatar to their preferred gender.
