How do I apply for the Purdue University Global Emergency Fund?

Note: Students who are applying for aid need to be working with a success coach to determine eligibility.  If you have not met with a coach,  click here to connect!

In order to apply for this aid, please go to the Application Portal to set up an account and complete the application. The process is designed to be simple and fast, so once you get started we should be able to move you through the process and get you funds quickly.

The application for funds takes on average 7 minutes to complete. You don’t have to worry about writing answers or finding references. The only thing you need is your student ID number.  You can find your student ID on your PG Campus profile (click on your name on the top right corner of the page.)  Contact your Advisor if you have any difficulty locating your student ID.

Eligibility:

What is the maximum amount of funds that I can apply for?

Students can receive up to $500, on a successful application.

How long will it take to receive a decision regarding my application for funds? How will I be notified?

Within 24 hours of completing the emergency funds application within the Beam platform, you will be notified if your application was approved or denied via the email you used when signing up. You can also log into the Beam app to check for updates about your application.

How does Beam determine who receives emergency funds?

At Beam, we want to make sure everyone in need of emergency support has the funds and resources they need as soon as possible. To do so, we've worked with Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab, the nation’s leading researcher on basic needs challenges and emergency funds, to develop an evidence-based approach to determining funds distributions.

After members apply for emergency funds through the Beam platorm, all submissions are evaluated on a case-by-case basis using our research-driven, evidence-based evaluation system. The goal of the system is to ensure individuals demonstrating significant need will receive funds.

How do I claim my emergency funds?

The Beam platform provides four different payment methods. The payment methods available within your platform may not include each listed below. These selections are made by your team during the implementation process.

Do I have to pay back my funds?

No, emergency funds do not require repayment.

I was not approved for emergency funds, but I am still in need of assistance. What should I do?

While every member who applies for emergency funds will not receive it, Purdue University Global and Beam still want to help however we can.
