About the session
Supporting autistic students toward meaningful independence is a key part of successful inclusion. This CPD explores a gradual move from clinical and centre-based autism support programmes to more independent participation in mainstream-school settings through collaboration, ethical decision-making, and data-driven planning.
Participants will work through school-based examples, readiness indicators, fading strategies, and practical tools for inclusive environments.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
• Identify readiness indicators for a transition to more independent inclusion settings.
• Develop gradual fading and support-reduction plans that are ethical and individualised.
• Use data to evaluate readiness and monitor progress.
• Apply effective collaboration strategies with schools, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare and support families during the transition process.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Behaviour analysts and therapists, inclusion teachers, SEN coordinators, school leaders, and professionals supporting autistic students' transition into school settings.
