ProStart is a nationwide, two-year program for high school students that Culinary Arts 1 and 2 students can learn culinary and management skills needed for success in the restaurant and food-service industry. Each year, our school can send one culinary and one management team to the Wisconsin ProStart Invitational. The culinary event has teams of four students have one hour to prepare a three-course meal and are judged on knife skills, teamwork, sanitation, safety, menu presentation, and taste. The management event has teams up to four students developing a business proposal for a new restaurant concept, be able to answer critical thinking questions and present their concept to judges. In both competitions, thousands of dollars in scholarship opportunities are available to participants.
