Mission: The Tacoma Rescue Mission helps all people including clients, volunteers, donors, and staff to become their best. They provide emergency services such as shelter and food to the homeless or hurting; offer self-sufficiency programs to help lift a person from poverty and break the chains of addiction; support prevention programs and share the Christian faith.
What: Volunteers are needed daily to do any of the following tasks:
Prep food, serve food and/or clean up after meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner at several different shelter sites.
Sort/Organize clothing at the clothing closet
Help fulfill order requests at the donation center
Go out with the search and rescue team to take food and water to individuals living outside, and build relationships with them. These shifts are available to new volunteers but are not listed on the volunteer calendar. Inquire with TRM staff.
Help with the after school program and the family shelter (requires 20 hours of previous volunteer at TRM in other sites first)
Other one-off opportunities are added to the calendar, as needed!
Where: Multiple sites within Tacoma, all relatively close to campus
When: Shifts available very day, morning, afternoon and evenings
Commitment: 2-4 hour shifts; you can volunteer as frequently as you'd like; NO MINIMUM COMMITTMENT REQUIRED
How: SIGN UP HERE! Once you register for an account, TRM will run a background check on you. After that, you will be able to access the volunteer calendar and sign up for shifts at your leisure.
