Public Allies Cincinnati 2019-2020

I am a full time employee as well as my own boss working as a Holistic Birth and Postpartum Doula. I love helping others and children so it’s a perfect combination of the two. I feel passionately about equality and quality of care for mothers and their families and hope to help change some of the policies that are not evidence based.

Tell us about your leadership?

Public Allies helped me identify my strengths as a leader. I now sit on the board for Blaq Birth Circle Doula collective to help provide additional education and training to newer and experienced Doulas serving Black and Brown families. I have also spearheaded our new project for mental health in the birth worker community around trauma in our field.

Which Public Allies core value resonates with you the most and why?

Continuous Learning and Innovation because I want to make my community a better place in the near future. As a Doula, I like finding new and better ways to support moms and families. I believe that should also extend through to the larger institutions that have large roles as well.

Anything else you'd like to share?

Public Allies helped me see the power of my voice and pushes me to keep going. The family and friends I’ve made since joining have been empowering.
