Public Allies Arizona 2015-2016

I currently serve as a Senior Program Manager with the National Center for Youth Law, with the FosterEd Arizona initiative. I am a proud Arizona native, living and working where I was raised.

Improving educational outcomes along with civic engagement and advocacy are at the core of my efforts. I am passionate about creating an equitable and just education system, which has led me to proudly complete 4 terms of AmeriCorps service as a Public Ally, a City Year corps member, a VISTA, and as a National service member. I'm a Certified Nonprofit Professional and recently received the CNP credential after dedicating over 13 years to the nonprofit sector both nationally and locally.

I'm a mentor, coach, community leader, consultant, and facilitator.

Tell us about your leadership?

I'm a servant leader. I've dedicated my life to service and I consistently strive to lead with compassion and gratitude, through a lens of equity. I'm a connector, and bridge build builder with a strong commitment to my core values and my community.

Which Public Allies core value resonates with you the most and why?

Integrity - our core value of Integrity has always deeply resonated with me because I believe it so closely aligns with always speaking truth to power. With integrity, it means internally honoring your own values in order to be able to honor and respect the humanity of others. It's also deeply understanding how one's decision impacts the lives and individuals, at all levels. I also really value the component of accountability and doing what's right, even when no one is looking.

Anything else you'd like to share?

Since 1 week after my graduation from PAAZ in 2016, I have dedicated my time, energy, and talents year after year, by sustaining and building a strong alumni network, which led to other sites using our framework as a model for alumni engagement. I have served as the vice chair of the Arizona alumni network for 2 years and as the chair of the alumni network for almost 3 years now.

I love PAAZ and PANO so deeply and have helped with recruitment, training, setting up alumni panels, networking events and so much more. Last year I was a part of the mentoring opportunity for BIPOC women*allies and had the incredible opportunity to meet allies from across various sites and was matched with an Ally located in Florida until her end of service, and we have remained connected since. I'm invested in the success of both the local AZ alumni network as well as the national network.
