Schooner School

An after-school immersion class for high school students held at the NW Maritime Center. Wednesdays afternoons.

Earn 1/2 CTE Credit Per Semester.

Fall courses will begin September 12th at the Maritime Center. Fall program will focus on earning US Sailing Keel Boat Certification and sailing aboard Schooner Martha, other tallships, and NW Maritime Center keel boats. Come join in the fun and learning!

Classes Meet all first semester from 3:30 - 6:15 every Wednesday.

Coursework: Earn your US Sailing Keel Boat Instructor card, learn about sailing and line handling, and gain experience aboard a variety of sail vessels. We will also spend a weekend voyaging aboard Schooner Adventuress. All of these activities are designed to increase your competency at safely working on the water.

Students are also accountable for a supported independent project totalling 8 hours of work outside of class.

Credit: Earn Vessel Operations CTE credit = ½ credit per semester. Attendance must be exemplary to to earn credit.

Where: Classes held at Northwest Maritime Center, Schooner Martha, Yawl Pacifica and one fabulous weekend on the Schooner Adventuress.

Time: For the most part classes will be on Wednesdays from 3:30 - 6:15 PM during the school year (except during breaks).
