Story time ... here is the beginning of a story. What happens next? It's time for your imaginations to fly ... You have been given the character, setting and the problem. How is the problem going to get sorted out?
What ideas will you come up with? After talking about your ideas with a buddy, write what happens next in your story. How will it end? Happily ever after? Take care to finish it off properly!
We want our stories to be funny and exciting for our audience to read.
Finished? Read your story again. Does it make sense? Punctuation! Happy? Okay, draw a picture to match your story using Google Drawing or Pixlr.
Publish your story to your blog with:
How is your animation looking? Have you thought about what you are going to say about respect in your voiceover?
During writing this week, you are going to work on creating a script for your animation. You will be able to turn this script into your voiceover. Click on the task image to find your instructions!
When you have finished, read your script carefully to check that it makes sense. Read it again to check your punctuation (capital letters, full stops, question marks). Ask a buddy to read your script. What comments do they have?
All done? Share your script on your blog with a screenshot from your animation. Labels: 2018, Animation, Writing, Respect,
How cool was camp?
We will have a discussion about all the amazing experiences at camp as you think about your highlights. Here is a planning sheet to help you brainstorm your ideas. It will be really awesome to share those experiences and your highlights on your blog. It will also be cool to come back and read them next year as you head off to camp as a Year 6!
We will work together to learn how to create paragraphs in your writing.
After you have written about your experiences, take time to read your writing again. Does it make sense? What about punctuation? Does every sentence have a full stop and capital letter? Ask a buddy to read your recount. What feedback do they have?
When you have shared your camp recount on your blog, you have a choice:
Choice 1: Write a thank-you letter to Mr Burt for creating such an amazing Year 5-6 camp. Create a new doc and move to your writing folder.
Choice 2: Create a presentation to share your writing in a different way for your audience. You may want to use some images and the paragraphs from your recount to do this. Here is an example of what this might look like.
If you did not go to camp, write to recount what you did while we were at camp. We would love to find out what you did last week.
Make a copy of our writing template.
Rename your copy : your name - R11 February e-asTTle Writing Test 2018
Move to your writing folder.
Follow the instructions on the writing doc.
Enjoy!
On your marks, get set, go! Working with a buddy we will have a dictation race:
We will spend time exploring our environment and will talk about the experience with a buddy and as a class.
We want our recounts to
share our personal experience and be interesting for our audience.
Writing Focus:
Welcome to Room 11 2018. I am really looking forward to getting to know all of you amazing Year 4 and 5 learners. This week we will be creating a piece of 'All About Me' writing that will go onto our blog. It will tell our readers about ourselves. As this writing will be going on our blogs, it is important that we are Cybersmart so that what we write will keep us safe and leave a positive digital footprint.
If you are finding it tricky to write your About Me, here is another About Me template that you can use.
