Belly Breathing

Watch this video and learn about Belly Breathing.

Then complete the tasks below.

Breathing Boat

Take a piece of square paper.

Colour it using awesome designs.

Fold it into a boat using the video to help you.

Lay down on the floor, place your boat on your belly. Watch as your boat goes up and down as you belly breath.

Make a video of your belly breathing with your boat and share it on your blog.

Create a breath picture

You will need:

  1. A printed picture of yourself breathing

  2. crayons in various colours.

  3. A piece of paper

  4. Optional dye.

  5. A speech bubble printed and cut out.

Take your back ground paper and follow the instructions on the video to make a breathing picture.

You can then dye this if you/ your teacher likes.

If dyed leave to dye.

Then glue on the picture of your breathing. Make sure it is cut out. Write a quote about breathing.

Think about the sounds that bring you joy!

Complete the class Jamboard inserting photos of the things that bring you joy. Work in Groups one page per group.

  1. Take picture/find picture of the sounds that bring you joy.

  2. Add a sticky note for each picture explaining why.


Create a soundscape

As a class bring items that make sounds to the mat. You might also use your bodies.

Create sounds that show:

Happiness, Sadness, Joy, Anger and Fear.

What does Joy look like?

Support ākonga to describe what joy means to them. What does joy sound/smell/taste/look/feel like?

In Explain Everything, Photopia or paper draw a picture of something that brings you joy.

Share it on your blog writing:

  1. What it looks like.

  2. What it sounds like.

  3. What it smells like.

  4. What it tastes like.

  5. What it feels like.
