Digital media usage, Emotional Availability, and playfulness in 3–6-year-old children and their mothers

This project focuses on the day-to-day digital media usage of children in early childhood and their mothers. The research examines the associations between digital media usage and the quality of the mother-child play interaction (assessed with the Emotional Availability scales), as well as child and mother levels of playfulness. The role of mothers’ technoference (interruptions in interpersonal communication caused by attention paid to personal technological devices) for these associations will also be explored.
