Dr. Rizwan received his B.S. (2013) in Electronic Engineering from the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, his M.S. (2016) in Information and Communication Engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and his Ph.D. (2021) in Electronic Science and Technology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
He completed postdoctoral appointments at the Nagoya Institute of Technology (2021–2022) and the University of Toledo (2022–2024). From 2024 to 2025, he served as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Toledo. He is currently an Assistant Research Professor in the Computational Electromagnetics and Antennas Research Lab (CEARL) within the Department of Electrical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Rizwan has published over 40 technical papers and conference proceedings and holds two U.S. patents. His research interests include the use of metamaterial platforms for next-generation plasma wakefield accelerators, plasma-based propulsion, and advanced antenna technologies, with applications in super-directivity, high-power microwave generation, transmission, and protection.
