Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Week 1: Padlet

There are two major kinds of artificial intelligence (AI), Predictive and Generative. Predicative is largely used to emulate human speech patterns. Examples include Alexa, Siri and Hey Google. Generative, what we will be focusing on today, is used to create text, pictures and even videos from something called prompts.

Prompts are the way we phrase what we want created. When using prompts, it is best to be specific vs. vague. Including many details are important for getting specific images. For example:

Prompt 1: Dog with a bone.

Prompt 2: A small, fuzzy goldendoodle is sitting on the floor of the kitchen. The dog is eating a delicious bone!

Which prompt do you think will be more successful at creating the desired image?

You can also place emphasis on certain aspects of your AI images with parenthesis and markdowns.

Parenthesis ( ) are used to make part of your image more focused.

Markdowns /// at the end of a prompt should eliminate any part of images you do not want.

Remember! AI is rarely actually intelligent. It will make mistakes and be confused often. It is an emerging technology and even when it isn't perfect, it's pretty amazing to imagine how much it will improve over the next few years!
