About Dr. McKelvey

Just to share a little bit of my background...I've lived in several different places in the U.S. and in Europe but my family and I have called Fort Collins home since 2002 when we moved from southern California. I live with my husband, Scott, our two dogs, and three cats. Our older son, Travis, his wife and three beautiful daughters live just down the street from us. Our younger son, Kieran, is currently teaching English in South Korea.

Tavelli has been a big part of my life ever since we moved to Fort Collins. Kieran started at Tavelli as a kindergartner and had a wonderful experience all the way through 5th grade. I taught English language acquisition here for nine years before spending four years working with the district's Educational Technology department. It's been a blast to be back teaching at my second home!

When not in the classroom, I love spending time with my family (pets included, of course), hiking in the mountains, reading, listening to music, and watching movies. I'm also passionate about learning languages. I speak French, a fair amount of Spanish, and some German. I also love martial arts and have a black belt in kung fu and karate.

My personal educational philosophy is well-aligned with the mission of Tavelli Elementary. My goal is to help prepare students with the 21st century skills they will need to make them successful, both socially and academically, in an ever-changing world.
