Biographical SketchI am a born and raised Colorado native from Sterling, a small town on the eastern plains. I moved to Fort Collins for college and have found this place to be my true home. After graduating from college, I moved to England to teach high school for a year, but after a year of learning and traveling I moved back to Colorado. I have a wonderful husband from Maine, two loving, young dogs and a cat that is going on sixteen!
Education BackgroundI completed all of my post high school education at Colorado State University. Go Rams! After completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Biological Sciences, I soon decided I wanted to go back to school to pursue the world teaching. I then went back to receive a Post-bachelor Degree in Secondary Science Education. I most recently completed my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership with a Principal Licensure Endorsement.
Why I enjoy teaching?Since I was young, I always knew I had a passion for helping people. After completing my degree in psychology, I came to the realization that working with youth was truly my passion. I love connecting with students and learning about their interests, hobbies and personalities. I love to see their drive for learning and excitement for life. Being able to help students connect with the world around them through my passion of science is just a bonus!
Favorite BooksI have read and enjoyed the Harry Potter series since I was a middle schooler and it still ranks top on my list. I also enjoy any books by Bill Bryson. Learning about his adventures and “experiencing” his travels are just amazing.
Interests & HobbiesI love being outside! If that is hiking up the canyon or kayaking on one of my favorite lakes, it truly solidifies my love for Colorado. I also have a passion for traveling, exploring new cultures and cooking.
Courses TaughtI am currently teaching8th Grade General Science, and Psychology and the Brain for my ELO 3rd Period class.
About My ClassroomMy classroom is a fun, inviting and welcoming place. I want students to come in eager to learn and engage in the world of science. Students in my classes are given the opportunity to connect with each other and also dig deep into how science relates to our everyday lives. I work with students to build and establish skills to help them achieve emotional, social and academic success in their future lives.
