Careers in Theatre

• You will be assigned one of the following fields:

             4. Costume Design & Construction

             5. Stage Management

• Presentation Requirements

  • • • • Research the occupation. Answer the following questions.

          • 1. 1. 1. What does the job require? What does this person do and what is the process they use? What kind of education do they need? What are their responsibilities in a production? What tools and technology do they use? What is unique about their skills?

        • Discuss the history of this field and current/recent advancements in the technology.

        • Find 5 examples of excellent work in this area. Explain why these are great examples of the craft.

        • What do you like, appreciate or admire in this field? What skills would you need to improve if you were working in this career?

        • Extra Credit: You could interview someone who works in this field. Ask them about their training, experience and skills. Find out what they love about this work and what the challenges are.

• HOW LONG should it be?​

  • 10-12 slides, no more than 20 minutes.

    • NOTES: Do not read your slides to us (I hate that!) This should be considered a "performance", so make sure you practice and polish your delivery. This is a research project, and a final, culminating exercise. Lots of points: don't procrastinate!
