Also, to get the competitive juices flowing a bit, show your tracking sheet to Coach Chandler to have your name and current total entered on the leader board.

How do I get touches?

Simply, find an area no larger than 6 feet by 6 feet and start dribbling in that space. From “toe taps” to "triangles" to some of the more intricate “outside-outside-cut in” techniques – all can be done in this small space. Check out the Workouts page to get started with some ideas.

We know it would be hard to count every single touch on the ball every time. To make it easier, we provide the number of touches you can get by performing each of the suggested workouts.

Don't over-complicate the tracking of the number of touches. The goal is to get touches on the ball! If you work with the ball diligently for 10 minutes without stopping too much, give yourself credit for 500 touches. 20 minutes = 1,000 touches (working diligently). You can use this rate even when you are just beginning and find it hard to complete an entire workout in the expected amount of time. For example, you might have to retrieve the ball if it gets away from you or perform the moves more slowly. But, you should be moving constantly, not taking a breather!

You can count all soccer touches. For example, if you play LMS Soccer or on a local league team, a typical practice will get you 500 - 1,000 touches. Playing a game might get you another 50-100 touches. Your coach can help you decide the number to record. But, the key thing is that all touches count.

How much time will it take?

You will need to make an initial commitment to watch the workout videos and develop a routine. (Or, just play the videos each time you work out.) After that, it is up to you how much time you want to spend:

10 minutes a day, 4 days a week = 2,000 touches per week

20 minutes every other day = 7,000 touches in two weeks

10 minutes during every lunch recess = 25,000 touches (March 1 - May 18)
