Developing Computational Thinking Skills Through Curriculum and Coding - PreK-5

Computational Thinking is a set of cognitive skills and problem solving processes that can help students find problems and design possible solutions in all academic areas. The four key techniques of decomposition, pattern recognition, abstractions, and algorithms will be examined. We will examine how we use these processes in all academic areas already and will have experience with them by working through activities that are unplugged, involve robots, and use coding. You will have the chance to experience the process and design your own activities for your students. Walk away with a better understanding of the computational thinking process, why it is important, and many ready-to-go learning opportunities for your students.

If you took this course during DIP Day 2 you are welcome to take this class too. Some will be the same but there will be new material and you can have more time to plan.
