Directors' Notes
What a strange thing we do: Memorize a book of stories and songs and perform it for a room full of people. And what a glorious thing we do: Combine our talents, our skills, and our creative energies into a single, moving, momentary cause. There is no place like the stage. There is no feeling like working behind or on it. There is no better home for everyone, no matter who they are, no matter what they want to become. Thank you – this crew, these musicians, this cast – for reminding all of us how vital theater is, how powerful, how lasting, and how beautiful.
~ Jason Tyler
I couldn’t be more proud to have worked on this production with all of you. Everything we have been through since 2020 makes this accomplishment all the more meaningful! Thank you cast, crew, and pit for your hard work and dedication. You are all amazing and I am so proud of you! Jason, Amie, Kaitlin, and John - you are the best!!!
~ Anna Hermanson
I am thrilled to be a part of Chicago at FCHS. Musical theater is what got me into music in the first place, and Chicago holds a special place in my heart as one of the first shows that formed my love for musical theater. I am so grateful to all the students who made this experience absolutely amazing. You are the reason I do what I do, and I am forever grateful that you allow me to share part of your journey.
~ John Hermanson
I really wanted to honor Bob Fosse's original choreography for Chicago, so I pulled from that heavily for this show…however, I wanted "Cell Block" to hit a lot harder so I used both inspiration from the movie and from the Kate Hudson / Lea Michele moment in Glee. And of course, I had to put my own glitter on it too - so I like to think of this as mostly Fosse with a little bit of Amie sprinkled in - I hope you love it as much as I have ❤️

Hello! Scout Buggle is a Junior and Chicago is the 4th show he has done for FCHS. He loves the way Chicago brought everyone from cast, crew, and pit together. He would really like to thank AmieTyler for introducing him to musicals, Mr. Tyler for allowing us to perform this and giving us these opportunities, and lastly he'd like to thank his big sister, Sadie, for showing him how fun high school theater can be.
Quinn Campbell is a Senior at Fort Collins High School, and is one of the set leads for Chicago. She has participated in every show since Freshman year, and this is their third show leading set. She is so grateful for the opportunity to challenge herself with this show through an unconventional set. They would like to thank all the friends they've made through theater and Mr. Tyler for supporting them through all the stressful times that participating in theater can bring.
Elena Crooks is overjoyed to be playing trombone in Chicago! She is a Senior and could not imagine a better musical to end her high school years. Chicago has been Elena’s dream show since she first saw it, and the kindness and dedication of the cast and crew have made this experience more magical than she could imagine. Chicago contains the most challenging and rewarding music she has ever played. Elena is so grateful to her family for their endless support and love!
Erin Dangerfield, a Junior at Fort Collins High School, has been playing the trumpet for about 6 years now. They are beyond excited to be a part of this amazing production of Chicago! While being involved in several other music groups, Pit Orchestra is by far their favorite ensemble to be a part of. Chicago consists of some of the most challenging music Erin has had to play so far in high school and has helped them grow as a young musician. Erin is so grateful for the bond they created with the other members of the pit and will be remembering this group for the rest of their life. This production wouldn't be possible without the love and devotion of the cast, crew, and teachers who were able to make this experience possible!
Maya Dhakal is a Junior at Fort Collins High School. She has been a part of four shows at Collins, including Chicago! She has had a blast with this cast and crew and would like to thank them for all their hard work and all the memories. In addition to playing her instrument, she is on the NoCo rowing crew and enjoys skiing on the weekends.
Katy Hicks has grown up with a passion for musical theater. After acting in middle and high school productions, she never thought she’d find herself behind a computer screen transferring lighting designs from her mind to real life. Katy has designed and run lights for Audience, Annie, Chicago, and Love/Sick. Her new motto for life is to “razzle dazzle ‘em” even though she frequently “frazzle dazzles ‘em”. Katy is forever grateful to have the opportunity to explore the world of technical theater, for the TxTx community, and the opportunity to be run lights for this production.

He is immensely exited for the opportunity to present Chicago to theater students around the state, and cannot wait to perform in the Bellco.
Avery Smith is a senior at Fort Collins High School and has participated in eleven shows. Doing Les Misérables her Freshman year really set the bar high, but she’s so beyond glad Chicago ended her Senior year with a bang. She’s also grateful for the unknown alter ego Lipshitz brought to her life, in the best way, and the life long friendships this show has brought with it. Razzle Dazzle em’.
Charlotte Sommer is a Junior at Fort Collins High School, where she participates in Orchestra, Band, and Theater. She has played drums in pit orchestra for three shows: Songs for a New World, Annie, and Chicago. She also ran sound for the school’s production of Audience. She has been playing drum set for five years.
Ali Steen (they/she) is a Junior at Fort Collins High School. They have been involved with almost all of the productions since their Freshman year, working on both the technical and performance sides of the department. TxTx has challenged her in ways she never expected, and she is very grateful for every experience this program has given her. Some of her performance credits include Alison (Fun Home) and Shrek (Shrek). Chicago has been an incredible experience, we are a team and together we have made an experience of a lifetime.
Samal Temirbekova is a Senior and has participated in theater for two years. She has been involved in both costumes and lights. This year for Chicago she was a lead for the costumes crew. She has enjoyed countless hours with new people and collaborating to make amazing shows. She has specifically enjoyed learning the ways of costuming, how many tries it takes to get the perfect one, and how to accessorize it to fit the character. Thank you to her co-leads Brooke and Paige and to our amazing director Mr. Tyler for making this show as amazing as it is.
Paige Thomas is a Senior at Fort Collins High School, and this is the second year she has participated in tech for TxTx. She has costumed for a few shows in the past, but Chicago is definitely her favorite, probably because of the red lipstick and the sparkles. She would like to thank her costume co-leads Samal and Brooke for all their hard work, and her best friend Malia, for convincing her to participate in the amazing theater program at FCHS.
Juliet Tremblay found her love of the stage at age ten when she landed a role in Fort Collins Children’s Theater’s Mary Poppins. She is in her Sophomore year at Fort Collins High School where she is an active member of the theater community. When not rehearsing on stage, Juliet is in front of the camera. She studies film acting weekly and just completed her fourth short film. After she graduates, she hopes to move to L.A. to pursue acting, filmmaking, and lots of other creative endeavors. She is so incredibly proud of everyone involved in this show and is more than excited for her next couple years with TxTx.
Eddie Tyler has been in eight shows at FCHS, working on both the tech side and the acting side. What Eddie loves most about this production is the collaboration between the pit, crew, and cast, and working with everyone to create this wonderful show. He would like to say thank you to his fellow cast and his fellow peers in helping him to create this production. If he had one piece of advice or inspiration to give, he would say, please, please, don't give up on theater, do your best to keep going and keep auditioning and keep TRYING.
This is Emma Tyler’s Senior year and her sixth show! She’s grown to love the tech side of theater and is so glad to be a part of this community and find new wonderful people. It's been a rough transition out of Covid shows but it's great to have a full production again. She’s so happy and thankful to Mr. Tyler to give us this amazing opportunity, and to all the wonderful people who gave their all to bring this show together.
Kate Vanatta is a Junior at FCHS, and she’s been doing theater since Freshman year. It is such a cool community! There is so much personality and life in this department, she truly believes it's something you can't find anywhere else. This production has absolutely brought us all together and she is so very excited to put it on one last time. It is an honor to do this on its own, but to do it with all her closest friends is even better. She is so proud of everyone who made this show what it is. Finally, she wants to thank her lovely stage managers - we make a great team!
Grace Wade is a Senior and one of the set leads for this production. She’s done nine shows, and Chicago is one of her favorites. While not much of a technical challenge when it came to building the set, she really enjoyed adapting it to these different spaces. It's been a lot of fun to be a part of and she’s so happy we're able to be at ThesCon!
Brooke Wageman is a Sophomore and Chicago is her fourth high school show, second as a costumes lead. She is so honored to be given an opportunity to come to ThesCon. Costume design is a huge passion of hers and getting to do Chicago has been a blast: from spending time with everyone in the dressing rooms to the challenge of balancing period accuracy with the flare of the show. She would like to give a special thanks to her sister, Kennen, for introducing her to theater, and her previous costumes lead, Isabel Anderson, for teaching her how to be a leader and a hard worker.
Zoë West is a Senior at Fort Collins High School. She has participated in theatre since her Freshman year, helping with costumes for the musical Les Misérables. Zoë has led props for three shows, including Chicago. Zoë is going to be studying criminology and psychology in college. She hopes to stay connected with theatre throughout her college experience. She feels that theatre has given her a second family and helped her to make many long-lasting connections that she won’t forget.
Lilia Whitman is a Senior at Fort Collins High School, having done eleven shows with Tower Theater. She is so grateful for all of the opportunities presented to her. And no matter what our program may go through, it has given her a home and a family she wouldn't give up for anything. She is so proud of this production, and she wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of her other Stage Managers or her Director, Mr. Tyler. Thank you!
Eugene Worford is a Senior and he’s done all the shows since Freshman year, and Chicago is his tenth. He’s loved doing this show because of the connections he’s made with the run crew, other technicians, the cast, and the pit, most of whom he didn't know at all before this production. This show has been such an undertaking, from the original design meetings and read-thru in August to our original show dates being cancelled due to illness, and then our preparation for ThesCon, but he feels like it's the best show he’s ever been a part of, and he’s so excited for everyone attending tonight to be able to watch the culmination of our department's work. He’d like to thank his fellow stage managers, his publicity crew, and Malia. Enjoy the show!
Marketa Young is a Senior at FCHS and has done very single show in TxTx since her Freshman year (yes, even the weird Covid ones), and is currently one of five theater officers. Theater has always been a place for her to feel entirely welcomed and accepted, and Chicago has not been an exception. This production has caused us many ups and downs, but it has been worth it to see it bloom into this incredible show that she loves so dearly. She would like to thank Mr. Tyler for giving her the chance to be a leader and for helping this community thrive, and she’d like to thank Emma for being her rock, especially in Chicago.
Vincent Yourshaw (he/him) is a Senior at Fort Collins High School and skelton exotic sangria enthusiast. He is the sound crew co-lead (along with the fantastic Stella Epstein) for Chicago, and emotional support human for the amazing Love/Sick sound crew lead Mallory Clark. Some of his favorite past shows at FCHS include The Children's Hour, Songs for a New World, and Fun Home. He is also an electrician and soup-consumer at Candlelight Dinner Playhouse.
