Pattonville School District Volunteers
The Pattonville School District appreciates members of our Pattonville community who volunteer their time to support students. As part of our ongoing commitment to provide the safest possible environment for the students we serve, the Pattonville School District is requiring a background screening for volunteers who will be performing tasks that could place them in close and unsupervised contact with students. As you may already know, school employees complete an extensive background check when they are hired.
Do I Need to Complete a Volunteer Background Check?
Volunteers who meet one or more of the following criteria will need to complete the confidential volunteer background check:
• Volunteer will have contact with students, such as working with students in the classroom (this does not include supporting school parties or attending school events when the teacher is supervising students)
• Volunteer has a regular and ongoing assignment at the school - such as working in the library, serving on PTO/PTA, or assisting the classroom
• Volunteer will be off campus with students - such as on field trips
• Volunteer is a mentor or tutor to a student(s)
• Volunteer helps with a before/after school club or student organization
How Often Do I Need to Complete a Volunteer Background Check?
Every two years.
How Do I Complete a Volunteer Background Check for Pattonville School District?
Step one is to fill out the form by clicking on the Volunteer Background Check Form link below. The Volunteer Background Check Form should be turned into the Student Services Office at 11097 Saint Charles Rock Road, St Ann, MO 63074. Parents/Guardians need to fill out the form completely, including their name, social security number, date of birth, state of birth, sex, race, address, and answers to the following two questions on the form (forms not completely filled out are not accepted by the Background Screening Investigation Unit which delays results). Parents/ Guardians should also write the name(s) of the school they wish to volunteer for at the top of the form. The information from the form is then submitted through a secure online system to the Background Screening Investigation Unit.
NOTE: We cannot use background checks from an outside source, it must be submitted on the Missouri State Highway Patrol/ Missouri Department of Social Services form provided below by the Student Services Office.
How Do I Know if I am Approved to Volunteer?
Parents that have been approved will be sent a Pattonville post card that they have been approved.
In the event there are concerns related to a volunteer’s background check, the Director of Student Services will review and a letter will be sent to the parent/guardian with information of who they can contact to dispute results. An individual with a background screening issue will not automatically be disqualified from volunteering in the district, as we will consider each situation independently.
The success of our school community greatly depends on the work of volunteers! If you have any questions regarding the background screening process, please contact the Pattonville School District Student Services Office at (314) 213-8090
