CSIP Planning Meeting - Jan. 21, 2023

On Feb. 21, the Pattonville community came together for the third district Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) meeting. The meeting began with district updates and an overview of the district CSIP plan, which was approved by the Pattonville Board of Education on Feb. 14.

Additional district information included work that is already in progress such as mentoring programs and the expansion of Extended Learning Opportunities (ELOs) at Pattonville High School. An update was also provided on the future of Remington. Since November 2022, a building-level committee has been investigating various learning models that would provide a unique and innovative learning opportunity for students at Remington. Students, parents and certified staff received a survey on Feb. 14 regarding potential changes. Results of that survey will go back to the building committee, where planning will continue. Any changes will be reflective of the district CSIP plan.

The remainder of the Feb. 21 CSIP meeting was spent in breakout groups, with school representatives finalizing their individual school improvement plans (SIP).

District CSIP and school SIP work will continue during the 2023-2024 school year. District CSIP meetings are scheduled to take place on Sept. 19, 2023; Nov. 28, 2023; and Feb. 27, 2024. Those meetings will include updates on the district CSIP plan as well as individual school updates. Those interested in joining their school’s teams can contact their building principal.

CSIP Planning Meeting - NOV. 15, 2022

On Nov. 15, the Pattonville community came together for the second district Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) meeting. The meeting began with district updates. Administrators shared changes to the proposed district CSIP plan following feedback from the first meeting on Sept. 20. In addition, an update on Prop S bond work was shared and suggestions from the September meeting regarding ESSER fund spending for the 2023-2024 school year were discussed.

No changes were proposed to the district's mission and vision. A few additions were made to action steps in the original draft CSIP plan based on feedback from September’s meeting. Suggested changes from the Sept. 20 meeting that were updated in the district CSIP plan included adding steps, specifying a department to oversee specific steps, adding attendance as a focus for some steps and adding areas for evaluating steps. The district CSIP plan is expected to be reviewed by the board at the Jan. 10 board meeting and will be lodged for approval at that time.

The remainder of the November CSIP meeting was spent in breakout groups, with school representatives meeting to create their individual school improvement plans (SIP). That planning will continue at each building until the next CSIP meeting on Feb. 21, where the goal is that school plans will also be completed.

CSIP Planning Meeting - Sept. 20, 2022

On Sept. 20, Pattonville School District began work with parents, students, community members, staff and area leaders to update its strategic plan during its first CSIP (Comprehensive School Improvement Plan) meeting of the year. The updated plan will focus on ensuring all students are successful both in school and beyond and planning for and addressing any critical issues that may arise. Pattonville updates its strategic plan every five years.

“District and local school improvement is viewed as a community effort in Pattonville,” said superintendent Dr. Barry Nelson. “The process of bringing community stakeholders together to provide meaningful input regarding school improvement goals and targets has been in place for many years and results in a high quality plan. This year's kindergarten students will graduate in 2035 and the steps we take today as a school community to plan the future will direct the focus and actions of the school district for the next five years. Our mission for the Class of 2035 and all other Pattonville students continues to be: 'That All Will Learn ... to become responsible citizens in a nurturing environment where diversity means strength, knowledge means freedom and commitment means success.’ "

The district established three goals for the CSIP committee to review at the meeting. The goals are related to the Missouri School Improvement Program, or MSIP 6, the state accreditation program. Pattonville’s CSIP goals are:

The district will host three district CSIP meetings this school year. Each school in Pattonville has a committee made up of staff, students and parents that will determine steps their school can make to improve programs, services and/or student achievement and develop a school SIP that aligns with the district CSIP. The meeting on Sept. 20 focused on reviewing and providing feedback on and discussing action steps for the district CSIP. Attendees also reviewed information about Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds, including where funds have been used and community survey results related to future spending of the funds, and participated in an activity to discuss how to strategically use the remaining funds. Subsequent meetings will focus on district and individual school plans.

Additional district-level meetings for the CSIP update will take place on Nov. 15, 2022, and Feb. 21, 2023. The goal is to present an updated plan to the Board of Education in March 2023. Work groups and school improvement teams will also meet separately to continue their work in between the district-level meetings.
