IXL is an online learning platform that provides personalized practice in Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies for students from pre-K to 12th grade. It adapts to students’ skill levels, offers targeted questions, feedback, and explanations, and is frequently used by teachers to track progress and identify learning gaps.
Example Classroom use of IXL:
In a 3rd grade science class, after a lesson on ecosystems, the teacher assigns the IXL skill “Match animals with their habitats.” Students use Chromebooks or tablets to complete the activity independently. As they work, IXL provides immediate feedback and explanations for incorrect answers, helping reinforce learning. The teacher checks the IXL analytics to see which students have mastered the concept and which may need additional support in small groups during review.
IXL is integrated with Microsoft’s Immersive Reader, which offers features like text-to-speech, adjustable text size and spacing, line focus, translation into multiple languages, and a picture dictionary, making IXL more accessible to a wider range of learners by enhancing reading comprehension and focus.
