Caldecott Medal Winner

Hot Dog, by Doug Salati

Summer in the city can be tough on a four-legged friend. Too crowded, too noisy, TOO HOT!..this Hot Dog has had enough. Luckily, his owner knows just what to do: escape to a breezy, beachy island where he can roam free, chase the waves, and even make a new friend. By bedtime, our pup hero is dreaming of swimming with the seals. Author/illustrator Doug Salati uses picture boxes and a contrasting color palette to take us from steamy city streets to cool ocean breezes.

This is Doug Salati's first Caldecott Medal!
