Visual Arts

ABOUT ME:

This is my 12th year teaching visual arts at PS214Q and I LOVE it! I have been an artist since I was a little girl; it is my passion. Before I became a teacher, I worked as an interior designer and project manager in the corporate field in both NYC and Westchester.

I graduated from New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury with a BA in Fine Arts/Interior Design, and a minor in Architecture; and completed my Master of Science degree in Visual Arts Education at Queens College.

In addition to teaching, I am also the Director of Art and Set Design for our annual Disney or Music Theater International school plays. The Set Design Team creates all the backdrops, props, and costumes for the shows. I enjoy working with students, teachers, and PTA parents in guiding them how to design, construct, and build. We use recycled materials, whenever we can, and strive to create a professional design that you would not expect from an elementary school play.

On a personal note, I have one son who makes me proud in all that he has accomplished, and a lot of cats! I help with feral rescue whenever I have free time. I am also an avid gardener; in the summer you will find me in Le Jardin planting blue hydrangeas and cottage style plants. I also enjoy skiing and horseback riding. AND, I love to paint! Watercolors and oil are my preferred medium.
