I joined the P.S. 214 family in 2004 and served as the Assistant Principal until March 2010 when I became Principal. Before I came to P.S. 214 I worked in Coney Island, Brooklyn as a teacher of various grades, as a computer instructor, writing teacher and a staff developer. As a classroom teacher, I worked for four years in an ICT setting. I have worked as an educator for the Department of Education since 1990 and consider myself very lucky to be the leader of such a wonderful school. A school rich with diversity and culture. I pride myself on being a perpetual learner and not afraid to try new things. I encourage everyone I encounter to do the same. My experience has helped me solidify my belief that every child can achieve greatness and it is our job to provide the foundation for this success.
I am dedicated to the vision that all students are entitled to the highest quality of education. I believe in developing the whole child and as a community we focus on strong personal qualities such as integrity, honesty respect and kindness. As a school, we work vigorously to advance children’s academic, social and emotional needs. I am committed to this work and am very proud of the commitment my entire staff demonstrates every day as well.
I truly value the role parents play in their children’s education and at P.S. 214 we encourage parental involvement in many of our day to day activities and events. I look forward to seeing you at workshops, performances and the many wonderful events scheduled for this school year. My door is always open for questions and concerns, and I look forward to working with you in the future.
