School Vision Statement

P.S. 214, The Cadwallader Colden School, is a community of learners who nurture the intellectual and social-emotional needs of students and direct their abilities towards the achievement of exemplary performance, enabling them to become resilient, responsible, respectful, and productive citizens.

School Mission Statement

Our mission is to maintain high expectations for all constituents, to develop programs that promote college and career readiness, critical thinking, high-level problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to our ever-changing global society. Our mantra is to - Never give up, Encourage others, and Always do your best.

Instructional Focus

We are a community of learners refining the rigor of activities and tasks. In doing so, we will be able to provide increased opportunities for collaborative thinking, discourse, work and multiple entry points, and autonomy.

Our Theory of Action

IF WE

  • engage students actively while learning a rigorous standards-based curriculum

  • advance the professional learning of teachers, leaders, and school staff

  • enlist our partners and engage families in a community schools approach

  • strategically use school-wide assessments and data to monitor and advance student learning

THEN

  • student achievement will improve thus producing graduates prepared for college, career, and life.
