Welcome to this dedicated page I've created that will guide your visit to Berlin! Many of the recommendations are based on my personal experiences. Please drop a comment if you have any additional places of interest.
Public Transport:
Public transportation is great in Berlin. You have a number of options: U-bahn, S-bahn (Trains); Buses and Trams.
A single ticket costs 2.80 euros. (Berlin AB)
If you are staying longer than 48 hours, I would suggest getting the BERLIN WELCOME CARD. You also get free admission to tourist attractions. See the site for more details.
From TEGEL Airport: Take a bus X9 to the Metro network.
From Schonefeld: Make sure to get the ticket ABC (as the airport is in zone C).
Walking tours are a great way to get familiarized with the city and explore with a group. The tours are free but as a courtesy, the tour guide would ask for tips. Depending on how the tour goes, it's always a nice gesture to leave Eur. 5-10. The tours generally last 2-3 hours.
