TEFA - Texas Education Freedom Accounts AWARD NOTIFICATIONS have been sent.
If your family receives a TEFA award, we want to help you take the next steps as smoothly as possible. Please forward your award notification to Principal Denoux via email.
All Notifications for Priority Group #1 (These are families that submited an updated IEP or submitted one sibling with an IEP) and Priority Group #2 have been sent by Odyssey. The next important milestone in the process is set for Monday, May 11.
Of course, additional Tier 2 students and others now on the TEFA waitlist could still receive awards.
By July 15, families who receive TEFA awards must take one of the following actions: confirm enrollment in a participating private school, select homeschool or other (which provides $2,000 in funding), or opt out of the program.
As families make those selections, opt out of the program or resolve appeals, additional funding is likely to become available to students who are currently waitlisted. The Comptroller’s office has published additional details on the lottery and waitlist process.
Please review the important information below:
1. Accept Your Award Promptly
Once you receive your notification, we strongly encourage you to log into your Odyssey/TEFA portal and accept your award as soon as possible. This is a critical step. Please be sure to check your spam or junk folder, as TEFA communications may occasionally be filtered there.
2. Finalize Your School Selection
After accepting your award, please ensure that [School Name] is selected as your school of choice in the portal.
➡️ This step allows us to officially see your student in our system and begin supporting your enrollment.
3. Complete Enrollment with the School
Once your student appears in our system, our team will reach out to guide you through the enrollment or re-enrollment process. Please be prepared to complete any required forms, submit documents, and secure your child’s seat.
4. Act Early to Secure Your Spot
Due to increased interest through TEFA, available seats may fill quickly. We encourage families to complete all steps as soon as possible to ensure placement for the upcoming school year.
Additional Notes:
If your student qualifies for additional funding related to special education services, the state will follow up with more information after your initial award notification.
TEFA funds are distributed through a state-managed account and paid directly to the school/vendors for approved expenses.

TEFA - Texas Education Freedom Accounts!
For years, Hope for the Future has helped families cover part of their tuition. With the arrival of TEFA (formerly ESAs) in 2026, many of our current families will be able to cover even more — sometimes the full cost of Catholic school tuition.
Here’s how it works:
If your family qualifies for Hope, you are very likely to qualify as a priority group for TEFA.
TEFA awards can cover up to $10,000 per child, per year.
If you receive TEFA funding, your Hope award will be reallocated to serve another family in need, multiplying the blessing across our community.
Every child eligible for public school (Pre-K–12) can apply for TEFA funding. If there are more applications than funds available, priority will go to:
✔ Students with disabilities
✔ Families with lower or middle incomes
But remember — all families should apply, even if you don’t fall into a priority group. Many current Catholic school families are expected to qualify.
