PACU

  • Identify patient as ERAS

  • Hand Off

      • Confirm with CRNA ALL medications given intra-op for safety precautions and to ensure no double dosing occurs

  • SCDs

      • from PACU arrival until discharge – while in bed or chair

  • Diet

      • Allow/encourage PO fluid intake while in PACU (if patient awake and not vomiting)

      • NO CARBONATED BEVERAGES

      • Document all PO liquid and solid intake in Dimensions on "input/output" flowsheet

  • Pain Medication

      • Oxycodone 5mg PRN pain ≀6 if tolerating PO intake

      • IV opioids only for patients not tolerating PO and/or rescue of severe pain (VPS >6)

      • ***Ensure appropriate medication given for patient's current pain score (take "Patient's Stated Pain Goal" into account too). ERAS Goal is to limit opioids***

  • PONV

      • No standing order for Phenergan

  • Epidural management:

      • Standard ERAS infusion of 0.0625% bupivacaine + hydromorphone 10mcg/ml

      • Infusion at 8-10 ml/hr

****If patient is being held in PACU longer due to no bed placement available, you will need to release the floor orders and begin accordingly***
