PACU

  • Identify patient as ERAS

  • Hand Off

      • Confirm with CRNA ALL medications given intra-op for safety precautions and to ensure no double dosing occurs

  • Phase I discharge criteria:

      • Stable airway and adequate ventilation

      • Cardiac and hemodynamic stability

      • Adequate pain control

      • Absence of nausea/vomiting

      • Normothermia

      • Alert and oriented

      • Surgical wound and dressing intact

      • Adequate volume status

  • Phase II discharge criteria:

      • Adequate pain control

      • Hemodynamic stability

      • Surgical wound/dressing intact

      • Ability to void

      • Safe transportation from facility

      • Knowledge of discharge instructions

  • SCDs

      • from PACU arrival until discharge – while in bed or chair

  • DIET

      • Allow/encourage PO fluid intake while in PACU

      • Document all PO liquid and solid intake in Dimensions on "input/output" flowsheet

  • PONV

      • No standing order for Phenergan

  • Pain Medication

      • Oxycodone 5mg PRN pain ≀6 if tolerating PO intake

      • IV opioids only for patients not tolerating PO and/or rescue of severe pain (VPS >6)
