Pre-op

• Identify pt as ERAS

• Fluid bolus

  • • Administer 1,000 mL fluid bolus prior to OR

• Clearfast ***DOCUMENT IN DIMENSIONS***

  • • Patient should drink Clearfast one hour prior to expected arrival time (4hrs prior to incision time) (unless diagnosed with gastroparesis. Look for emptying study)

    • If patients have not completed the carbohydrate drink, they should re-main NPO according to PAA and ASA guidelines

• PONV screening ***DOCUMENT PONV SCORE IN DIMENSIONS***

  • • Scopolamine patch (anesthesiologist to order)

    • Emend 40 mg PO (patient should have taken before arrival at hospital) DOCUMENT IN DIMENSIONS

• Multimodal analgesia-ordered by surgeon

  • • Gabapentin elixir 600 mg PO (contraindicated in >65 years of age)

    • Tylenol 1 g PO Q8 hrs

    • Ketorolac 15 mg IV Q6 hrs

    • For patients who will not receive ketorolac intraop: Celecoxib 400mg PO

***If above multimodal is not ordered or not ordered correctly, contact surgeon (or anesthesiologist if surgeon unavailable) to correct orders prior to patient leaving Pre-op***

• Hand Off

  • • Confirm with CRNA ALL medications given in pre-op for safety precautions and to ensure no double dosing occurs
