Will You Head Up To The Pass If It Is Snowing Or Raining?
Yes, we will go even if it is dismal and raining...bring your rain gear!
What If I-90 Has Been Closed During The Day Before A Ski/Board Session?
I-90 at Snoqualmie Pass closes for many reasons. Before each session, we will assess the weather, road conditions, and recent closures and make our decision based on safe traveling conditions. Please be aware that this section of freeway closes regularly for avalanche-control work, which does not necessarily mean that conditions are unsafe for road travel. In the event of planned avalanche-control work, we will obtain information from the DOT and the Summit staff about their timeline and location and then make our decision. You will be contacted by e-mail or there will be a sign at the drop off place telling you the bus is cancelled.
What If I-90 Closes Unexpectedly While The Students Are Up At The Pass?
If the DOT decides later in the day, due to changing conditions, to do avalanche-control work, the resort makes an announcement to all skiers/boarders to head down the mountain and provides an estimated time of freeway closure. In this event, all students are to return to the bus immediately, and all coordinators and chaperones assist in getting all students back to the bus and departing quickly. If the road closes before we leave the hill the DOT gives priority to buses when convoying down the hill.
If The Ski Bus Is Canceled, How Will You Let Us Know?
If you think there is a chance we might cancel, please pack your car as planned but look out for signs posted at the school entrance informing you of the cancellation. Also we will send an email message.
If School Is Cancelled, Is The Ski Bus Cancelled?
Not necessarily. Most of the time, when school is cancelled in Snoqualmie Valley, it is either because there is a risk for road travel or flooding. In either of those cases, it is just best to stay home and avoid the mountain roads. However, occasionally closures occur for other reasons and may still allow for the ski bus to run as scheduled.
Will We Make-Up Missed Ski Bus Sessions?
We will make every attempt to make up any missed sessions, but this will be dependent on timing and bus availability. If 2 or more weeks are canceled and unable to be rescheduled, prorated refunds will be made.
What If An Emergency Occurs On The Mountain?
If your child is involved in any accident the ski patrol will be called to take care of and assess the incident. The ski patrol has the contact numbers of the coordinators of the club and we will be called right away. We are either on the hill skiing, by the fireplace at summit central, or in the lodge. You will be contacted to determine next steps. There is an emergency chaperone on the mountain with a car and in many cases can transport your child to meet you at the school or at the Snoqualmie Valley hospital.
How Can Students Contact A Chaperone?
Some weeks there may be a chaperone sitting by the outdoor fireplace at the Summit Central plaza or in case of bad weather they are in the lodge looking out over the fireplace. They will also have cell phone numbers of all the coordinators.
Is there an end of season party?
Yes, and this year, the end of season pizza party is included in the registration fee!
Are Helmets Required?
Yes, helmets are required! And don't forget to make sure goggle lenses are suitable for night skiing/riding.
Will There Be An Option To Drop Off Ski Equipment Before School?
Yes, that option is in place for all three schools. You will get more information about this from your school's coordinator after you sign up.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation requests made before December 1 are eligible for a refund less a 10% admin fee. No refunds will be given for requests made on or after December 1. Please note that no refunds will be given if your child cannot make the bus for individual weeks.
What if I am interested in being a chaperone?
Each bus will need 2 chaperones and an emergency driver. If you are interested in helping out, please send an email to Tove at tove.aaronson@gmail.com. You do not have to be available all 6 weeks. Otherwise, watch for an email towards the end of the year inviting you to sign up to chaperone individual weeks.
