Monte Alegre is a 5-hectare landscape, shaped by time, experience, and a conscious relationship with nature.
At its heart lies a historic olive grove, cultivated for over 26 years in a fully ecological way, without any chemicals.
What has developed here is not a temporary project, but a place with depth and continuity.
For around 10 years, a carefully designed water retention system has supported the land. It stores water, regenerates soil, and demonstrates how agriculture can function in harmony with natural cycles.
Monte Alegre is already a proven, living model of regeneration.
Like many initiatives, Monte Alegre faced challenges. Active cultivation was paused in 2020.
Since 2025, the project has resumed with renewed energy, under the stewardship of the Association Alegria Para Todos.
This is not a restart, but a continuation built on a strong foundation.
Monte Alegre is a living learning environment located in the Axarquía region (Málaga, Andalusia), dedicated to sustainable development, regenerative agriculture and practical nature-based education.
The project combines traditional Mediterranean agriculture, ecological regeneration, intercultural exchange and non-formal learning within an international and community-oriented setting.
Main focus areas:
Permaculture and ecological design, Water retention in dry regions, Regenerative agriculture, Food forests and reforestation, Soil biology, Ecological construction, Intercultural education, Arts, music and creativity
Monte Alegre participates in European learning, mobility and intercultural exchange projects in cooperation with educational and cultural organizations from different countries.
The project brings together local professionals, international experts, artists, farmers, mentors and participants committed to a more sustainable and human-centered future.
Monte Alegre combines real ecological practice with long-term landscape regeneration, while also creating space for education, knowledge exchange, and collaborative development.
From this interaction, something greater emerges:
a replicable model that addresses key challenges of our time — especially water, soil, climate, and sustainable ways of living.
•••
A free and peaceful place for people from different cultures, where creative exchange, sustainable collaboration, and a balanced interplay of economic, idealistic, and spiritual impulses are encouraged.
•••
Time in direct connection with nature — among gardens, water, and open landscapes, with own cultivation and ecologically designed spaces for shared activities, learning, and creative expression.
•••
A sustainable approach based on integration into the natural environment, ecological agriculture, circular thinking, recycling, and a responsible use of energy and resources.
You may already feel that this place resonates with you.
Monte Alegre is open to people who seek a deeper connection with nature and their own roots, who want to be part of something meaningful, and who wish to contribute their skills, ideas, and energy. It is a place for all those who not only want to think about new ways of positive and sustainable interaction, but also wish to play an active part in shaping them.
At the same time, the project welcomes partnerships, funding programs, and impact investments that support and expand this development.
Monte Alegre grows through the people who engage with it — each in their own way. Whether practical, creative, organizational, or supportive: your contribution can become part of this place. If you feel drawn to it, we would love to hear from you.
Monte Alegre is a place in transformation.
And it might also become part of your journey.
