Benefits of the workshop :

· Intensive, personalized mentoring designed to meet each participant’s research goals/needs

· Specific guidance and feedback aimed at writing for top-tier research journals

· Interactive group sessions focused on critical graduate/early scholar research skills and issues

· Formation of and networking within a supportive and vibrant community of international scholars

After completion of the workshop, it is anticipated that participants will have a well-conceptualized research plan or revised analysis plan that can contribute to the international science education community through publication in high quality international journals.

Summary:

Skill in thesis and grant proposal writing is needed for graduate students and early career faculty as today's research is highly competitive in the global community. In order to empower early career educators who are currently studying or starting their research, a workshop on thesis/academic proposal writing would help them to produce meaningful and successful documents which lead to research that could benefit Thai science and technology development, as well as others in the ASEAN region, and potentially in the neighboring region of South Asia.

During the three-day workshop participants will bring their potential ideas or emerging work to the institute, have opportunities to hear from different researchers about how to conceptualize and complete their work, and spend significant time in small working groups with research mentors discussing their potential research questions.

By the end of the workshop, the participants should have a well-conceptualized research plan or revised analysis plan that will ensure a contribution to the science education community. Selected participants will have opportunities to submit work to the NARST conference, which will highlight the process and the products of this workshop. Following the workshop, the mentors will provide feedback to the participants regarding their final work. Because of the short amount of time at this workshop, written feedback will have to be provided afterwards.
