Welcome to The College Workshop Course!


COURSE DESCRIPTION

The college process can feel like taking another course, so this is meant to alleviate some of your stress, and work on communication skills. We will write, workshop and critique college essays, scholarship applications, and personal statements. We will also research the college admissions process and practice interview skills. Activities and assessments will encourage you to think from different perspectives and become a better writer and speaker.


ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS

An essential question is a question we look at repeatedly throughout the year. Everything we do in class tries to answer this question. We practice in various ways until we feel comfortable in our ability to work with the answer.

  • Where am I going?
  • How am I going to get there?


COURSE OBJECTIVES

Students will be able to:

  • Write, workshop and critique a variety of writing pieces
  • Research the college admissions process
  • Practice interview skills
  • Practice effective peer and self editing skills
