About w_show

W_show is a window-exhibition space that aims to establish an artistic dialogue and possible collaboration between artists and researchers to stimulate exchange of practices with an emphasis on collaborative methods and research strategies. By encouraging artistic experimentations with various media within the domain of site-specific work, the aim is to activate young artists to contribute to the local artistic environment and offer visibility for their works.

From November 2018 till June 2019 artists of the Master Artistic Research at the University of Amsterdam will show their work in progress.

W_show is supported by Foundation Jetty (stichting la Jetée), a small organization run by artists. It has since 2005 been running an exhibition window in ’de Pijp’, Amsterdam. It is located at the corner of the Ferdinand Bol street not far from the crossing with the Ceintuurbaan. W_show wants to attract a diverse public from the unexpected passer by, the children playing in the street, to the accidental tourists and the occasional art lovers. The window is a platform for artists to create an installation unique for this location.

Participating artists: Ester Eva Damen (filmmaker and visual artist), Justine Gensse (visual artist) and Anouk Hoogendoorn (writer and visual artist), Sabrina Huth (dancer), Andrea Knezović (visual artist), Christina Ntanovasili (architect), Ilana Reynolds (dancer), Christine van Royen (visual artist), Hanna Steenbergen-Cockerton (visual artist) and Sara-Lot van Uum (writer and visual artist).
