Location & Facilities
Camp LaDaSa is a church owned campground located approximately 1 hour drive from Palmer in Willow, Alaska. Camp facilities include wonderful cabins, tent camping areas, bathrooms with flushing toilets, 6 showers with hot water, a kitchen and dining area, shooting ranges for Archery, pellet guns, ropes Challenge Course, stage, and a lake for swimming and canoeing.
Youth Camp Leader High Adventure Day
On June 25, our Youth Camp Leaders will get to experience a white water rafting expedition on the Matanuska River with the Nova Alaska Guides. This is an ideal introduction to white water rafting with a guide company that has operated in Alaska since 1975.
This raft trip launches on a separate low volume tributary called Caribou Creek, a great training ground before hitting the big river and rapids downstream. The creek merges with the glacial currents of the South Fork on the much larger Matanuska River. Consisting of predominantly back to back Class III and IV rapids, the South Fork travels along parallel to the Matanuska Glacier moraine.
For more information about the rafting trip please refer to Nova’s website. https://www.novalaska.com/trip/lion-head/
Due to glacier water temperatures, dry suits are provided. Height, weight, and shoe size are important data for Nova to help size dry suits for participants. Please provide that information during registration.
Additionally, Nova requires participants fill out and sign wavier before participation. Please print, fill out, and sign the following wavier and turn it into your ward camp director. https://www.novalaska.com/waiver/
Camp Staff
Our camp is led by women and men volunteer leaders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who contribute to the young women's experiences by donating their time and talents. As a team, they have expertise in outdoor skills, adventure sports, games and activities, music, crafts, food and nutrition, medical care, teaching, and gospel living.
Camp Eligibility
Camp is for all young women eligible to participate in the Young Women program (anyone turning 12 years old in 2024 through graduating high school seniors). Other YW who meet these age requirements and are willing to abide by Church standards may also be included. Leaders will determine which young women will be old enough by the date of the camp and invite them to participate. Friends are invited to attend!
Camp Fee for YW Campers: TBD
Due to the high number of Stake activities this summer, registration numbers must be turned in before camp fees will be decided. The camp fees cover the use of Camp LaDaSa facilities, food (meals & snacks), sports equipment, supplies for activities, camp T-shirt, awards, etc. There is no need for money while at camp as everything is included in the camp fee.
The ability to pay camp fees should not be a deterrent from attending camp. Arrangements can be made through the Bishop of your ward if needed.
We are excited to begin a fantastic week at Palmer Stake Young Women's Camp and look forward to spending it with the Young Women & Ward Leaders in 'a place where they can gather together, separate from worldly influences, feel the Spirit of the Lord, grow in unity and love, and strengthen their faith and testimonies of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.'
We want to assure you that the health, safety, and welfare of all in attendance is our first priority.
