We had guests over at our place from another city, Hamilton, when my mom decided to make this very popular dessert known as Zarda (meethay chawal or sweet rice). Personally, I don't like cherries in anything apart from having it on its own. But when I had this, I liked the cherries and how perfectly they fused with the rice and khoya (I seriously don't know what you call khoya in English. Please let me know if you do hahah). My mom, as I had mentioned earlier, is a superb cook. I haven't had food tasted any better than hers (the dishes tried at Karim's in Delhi is excluded). I liked the colours in this delicacy. I mean look at it. It's so colourful. Reminds me of the time when I had to sit down and brainstorming colour palettes for my design portfolio. I like the silver sheets on the top but I'm still trying to figure out why are they even eaten. I mean it's good for decorative purposes, but then why would you eat silver? Are there any health benefits? Do let me know on my facebook page.
