Three Poses 2

This image gets color from Painstorm, Texture from Metabrush, and pop from iColorama.

I started with this sketch of mine, done with pen on paper. This was actually three 90-second sketches of the same model on the same piece of paper. I photographed the page and and cleaned it up and brightened it in iColorama using Adjust/Levels and Style/Flow at low opacity.

I opened the image in Paintstorm Studio. On a new layer, I painted color with the Little Put brush. I'll refer to this as the color layer.

On another new layer, I used the Paint Bucket tool to fill the layer with color, to use as a background layer. I dragged this layer to the bottom of layer stack so that it would not obscure any of the image elements on the other layers.

I dragged the sketch layer to the top of the layer stack. I changed its blending mode to Multiply, so that it does not obscure the layers below it. I reduced its opacity to about 50%. On another new layer, I painted some highlights and shadows. I positioned this new layer above the color layer.

On another new layer, I painted a ground for the figures. I blurred the ground layer using Filter/Blur. I positioned this layer just above the background layer.

Here are my layers. I saved to my camera roll.

I opened the image in iColorama and used Adjust/Tonelab preset 4 for tonal separation. I used Effect/Raise preset 2 to emphasize the brush strokes.

I opened the image in Metabrush. On a new layer, I used Brushes/Texture with the Pen 9/19 brush to paint over the figures, and I used Brushes/Texture with the DryTwo 1/42 brush to paint over the background.

On another new layer I painted with Brushes/Texture2, using the default brush.

On another new layer I painted with Brushes/1Color, and on another new layer I painted with Brushes/1Color2, using the default brushes.

I created another new layer and used the Paint Bucket to fill it with black. I dragged it to just above the layer with the imported image, and I turned off visibility for the layer with the imported image. The effect of the black layer is that you will see black wherever there are gaps in the higher layers. I wanted to see black rather than the imported image in those gaps. Finally, I rearranged the layers and adjusted their opacities, to get an effect I liked.

These are my layers.

I opened the image in iColorama. I used Adjust/Tonelab Preset 4 at low opacity, and I used Adjust/EQ at medium opacity, to brighten the image. I used Tone/Enhance to modify the color a bit.
