I show how I created this image in iColorama-S on the iPhone.
I started with this original acrylic painting of mine. You could use any portrait.
I used Style/Simplify to remove some of the sharp detail that the camera captures.
I applied one of the presets under Effect/Pixels. I tried several presets before deciding to use this one.
I applied Effect/Pixels a second time, this time using a different preset.
I used Brush/Paint and selected the blue background color. I painted away some of the figure.
Still in Brush/Paint, I selected the hair colors that were already in the image, and I painted in some more hair. I saved the image to my camera roll.
I opened the image in Elasticam and tweaked it a bit to alter the shape of her face.
I opened the image in iColorama-S. Using Brush/Paint, I selected the blue background color and painted over the entire image. I saved this to my camera roll. Then with the image still open, I used Brush/Paint and selected the blue background color, and with a large brush, I painted over the entire image to make a solid color image. Then I used Effect/Blend to blend the previously saved image onto the solid blue image. I used my fingers to shrink the image and place it where I wanted it.
I used Brush/Paint to paint a dress, selecting colors from the image.
I used Brush/Paint and a small black brush to add some lines.
I used Brush/Paint, and I chose a square brush from the BASIC brush set. I dabbed to make a single square brush image for each eye. I had to try a few times to get brush sizes and dab locations that looked good.
I used Brush/Paint, this time selecting a triangular brush from the BASIC set, and dabbed on two white triangles to represent catchlights in her eyes.
I adjusted the color through a variety of functions under Tone.
I used Brush/Paint to add a highlight to her dress. I selected a lighter shade of her dress color.
I used Effect/Raise Preset 1 at very low size, to add a touch of definition.
